CABLE FIRE PROTECTION WITH COMPLIANT COATING SYSTEMS

The IBAS joint venture with Fire Security of Norway delivers the world’s leading cable fire protection solutions, through a South African engineering service provider, IBAS Group (Pty) Ltd, who is very experienced in African conditions and requirements.  Fire protection services of electrical cables are provided with either intumescent or ablative coating.

The intumescent cable coating FS1 expands during a fire, thereby insulating and shielding the cable from fire damage. The ablative coating FS5 protects the cable by chemical and physical reactions that consume large amounts of heat energy. Fire Security is leading the way on fire protection engineering standards globally.

The cable coating systems have been tested from the North Sea, throughout the Middle East to Indonesia. An investment in the longevity of electrical cables is an investment in secure performance and insurance against production/operation shutdown.
